Yes this works but be warned, if you have to restore Android to stock , it will kill your Windows partition, so afterwards you will have to do the Windows restore procedure as well.
Then all is normal again, but you will have lost all your files and settings and start as if new.

Sorry for the double post.

Hello,

I'm trying to flash android using the intel tool provided and following the PDF with the instructions. The Chuwi Hi12 says  DNX FASTBOOT MODE, I open the Intel program and browse to the android image (and also tried with the .json file) and the program recognizes the Hi12 and gives me the option to start flashing, then the program fails saying "06/12/16 10:53:14.502  ERROR  : [Port 1/1] Failed to reboot the device"

Any advice or ideas?

Hello Emily,

Thanks, I have downloaded intel phone flash tool 5.5.2.0, the current intel one.
I use your tutorial "How to flash Android OS for chuwi Hi12(dualboot) step by step
with your official "Chuwi Hi12 Android OS (Dual OS)".
At the end, phone flash tool say: flash success, duration 3mn 25s.

So before this android flash, windows10 worked correctly, but not android.
Now, I have no windows 10, no android, only a black screen with DNX FASTBOOT MODE.
Restarting a couple of time with no changing at all !!

What can I do now ?

Hello Emily,

Thanks, I have downloaded intel phone flash tool 5.5.2.0, the current intel one.

Hello,
I think you should erase Windows partition when you flash Android.
To choose "flash.json" will erase Windows. After flashing Android, you have to reinstall Windows again;
To choose "flash-no-erase-all.json" will not erase Windows;
I don't know why you can't flash Android sucessfully. But my PhoneFlashTool is the version 5.3.4.1. You can try it again using my tool.
I write a more clear tutorial for Hi8 Pro. It is also suitable for Hi12 dualboot. Hope it will help you.

Hello Emily,

Thanks, I have downloaded intel phone flash tool 5.5.2.0, the current intel one.

Do this. Make sure the device is fully charged, then disconnect the power.
Boot device , it will say Fastboot
Now hold down the power button for 30 seconds. It will go off.
Leave the device alone for at least 3 minutes.
Now boot normally, pressing only the power switch
