Hi all!

I recently stumbled about this page here:

http://www.kryptowire.com/adups_security_analysis.html

and realized that our Hi12 is also affected of this spyware (sending a lot of personal information to their Shanghai server)

If there any chance we will get an "official" update for our tablets to get rid of this one? I currently rooted my tablet and try to hunt down this one, but it seem to reinstall itself after a while

@emily: any official statement of Chuwi to this matter?

Yes, it's Android.

However, why don't we get any response from our chinese friends at Chuwi on this topic. Are they working that close with this pathetic AdUps company?

http://www.adups.com/index.php

Is that company part of the government or the triads?

I'm curious how you made the determination that Adups is part of the FOTA upgrade package on the Hi12's Android build?  Did you determine the presence of:

com.adups.fota.sysoper
com.adups.fota

You can complete "disable" those packages by typing these commands via a terminal emulator:

pm hide com.adups.fota.sysoper
pm hide com.adups.fota

This is just like un-installing the packages, but you can always re-enable them if/when desired...

pm hide ...

Isn't that it? Or com.adups.fota not related to spyware?

I think this is for firmware update which I don't think chuwi will ever update the hi12 any longer since they can concentrate on the hi13. So this fota would be useless.
