Netflix offline download on Hi12 in Android?

Part of the reason I bought a Hi12 was so I could take it on vacation preloaded with Netflix shows I've downloaded for offline viewing while at home just before leaving. I've been doing that previously with my Lenovo 10" Yoga 2 tablet.

This doesn't seem to work on the Hi12 The option to download shows, configure location of download, set download quality etc are all absent from the Netflix app.

Does anyone know how to enable offline download in Netflix on the Hi12?

Thanks

This is a very good question! I got the same problem and from what I know: I think you need at least Mashmallow (6.0) in order to utilize that offline mode function from Netflix.

My redmi note 3 pro works fine with offline mode. Chuwi hi12 rather not.

Chuwi runs 5.1.1 asfik.

And mashmallow is not supported for z8350 / z8300.

Intel hasn't made it to happen and probably will not either since they gave up the hope on cherry trail already.

Sad day If anyone else know how to get around this system, please enlighten us.

Netflix offline Dow loading works on my Xiaomi phone and Lenovo tablet running Android 5.1, so it's not that.

Then the only reason I can think of is THIS one:

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23939#netflix-in-hd3

and this:

Basicall, Netflix has a "white list" of which devices they think is OK for downloading and if you are not in that list, you will risk to not be able to download offline mode.

My Redmi Note 3 pro is not among the "white list" but I assume they didn't officially updated that list - yet.

Doesn't work on my Hi12 or my Onda Obook 11 Plus...

As a side note, I also can't watch my Verizon FIOS DVR recording through their app on these devices either...  Everything else in the FIOS app works (live TV, etc), just not access to DVR recordings.  Strange...

I'm guessing you also tried the Win10 store version?

The Windows version of Netflix doesn't support downloading for offline viewing.

Not that i really know why it is like that, but thinking it might be cursed by that both Onda and Chuwi is using a user debug version of Android

It seems Chuwi haven't included Widevine drm in the Hi12, according to this: http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-3625-1-1.html   Does anyone know how to get Widevine drm onto the Hi12? Sounds like a bug to me. Any way we can alert Chuwi to this?

I'm not sure this will work or not, but seems like it should be possible to install widevine drm using gappz and adb
