Hi all,
I have a Chuwi Lapbook 14" since roughly a month and really loved it.
However, about one week ago Windows started to get a bit buggy and crashed aprox. 1-2 timer per day.

Therefor, I tried a clean install of Windows 10 but failed (USB and DVD).
Then I found the WINDOWS REINSTALL tutorial on this forum and did everything as explained.
All worked well but when the image is applied it always stops after approx. 7% (sometimes earlier) and returns a blue windows error screen.

I also tried a Linux installation and it went pretty much all the way through but finally also crashed.

I even bought a M2 SSD to install Windows on that one but the result was the same (crashes after approx 7% of image applied or clean install)

Does anyone have an idea if that is a software/bios problem or a hardware issue ?

Thank you !

Please enter bios and tell me what version you are running

You can't install Windows directely on the SSD unfortenly

Did you use the official version of Windows thaty Chuwi have, or the unofficial version i have made ?
I do NOT work for Chuwi. Please DO NOT pm or email me with problems you may have!

Hi Hackerjac

Thank you very much for your prompt feedback.
I have used the Windows Version from the link in this thread
https://forum.chuwi.com/thread-3565-1-1.html

BIOS version should be the more recent one, as I can select the Windows / Linux option in the boot menu.
Will check the exact BIOS version tonight.

Also will try your unofficial version tonight and report if that worked.

Thank you

Hi Hackerjac,

did not get you pm but tried the latest BIOS from the CHUWI forum.
Funnily enough it returned an error as well
18 - Error: Secure Flash Rom Verify fail

However the current BIOS version is A2W6_NA14.015 x64 which seems pretty recent to me.

I have to try your Windows 10 image yet.
Did download an unrar it but put it on a microSD card in a USB card reader and that does not work.
Will try on a "real" USB stick later.

The image from the CHUWI forum still returns Windows errors after approx 7% of the image applied.
I will add two of them here as the message slightly changes each time.

I am starting to wonder, if it is a hardware related problem - may be RAM or the eMMC?

Any ideas?
It is really a pitty as the Lapbook itself was great and exactly what I was looking for

how are you reinstalling windows.?? by a usb pen drive ??. if you are using usb 3.0 drive then try with a usb 2.0 drive.  if the usb pen drive is not a issue then it needs further diagnosing, starting with the emmc and ram.

I think it should be your USD drive problem. Please try to change another USB driver and follow this tutorial:

Hi all

Thanks for all the good advice

@emily: I followed exactly your tutorial and when it say "applying image" it is counting up the percentage.
With your image I use to crash at 6-7%

@ deejay1963: tested three different USB stick. All USB 2.0. I could test a USB 3.0 stick if you are confident that this could make a change

@ Hackerjac: your image file seems to be a little bit different as it chrashes later
I achived 12% of the image applied

I am tending towards the eMMC being faulty.
Last time Windows retuned an error page stating:  ATTEMPTED WRITE TO READONLY MEMORY
