GameBook GPU Fan Randomly Stops - Unpredictable Firmware/Driver Bug

Hello,

I am following the post guidelines to provide all necessary information for a fast and efficient resolution.

1. Serial Number:

  • TGameBookUT1C25040092

2. Purchase Information:

  • Where I bought it: es.chuwi.com

  • When I bought it: August 13, 2025

3. Detailed Problem Description:

My laptop’s right-side fan randomly and unpredictably stops spinning.

This is a software/firmware-related issue, not a physical hardware failure. Here is a detailed breakdown:

  • The Symptom: The fan can stop at any time—whether the laptop is idle, under a light load (like web browsing), or even under a heavy load (like gaming). Once it stops, it will not start again on its own, regardless of the GPU temperature or system demand.

  • What I Have Tried & Observed:

    1. Reinstalling NVIDIA Drivers: Sometimes, performing a clean reinstallation of the latest NVIDIA drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) temporarily fixes the problem, but it always returns. This confirms a driver/firmware conflict.

    2. Restarting Doesn’t Work: A simple Windows restart does not bring the fan back. This confirms the issue is deeper than the OS.

    3. The “Cool-Down” Fix: The only reliable way to get the fan working again is to shut down the laptop completely and leave it powered off for some hours. This strongly suggests the issue is with the Embedded Controller (EC) firmware or GPU firmware becoming unresponsive and requiring a full hardware power cycle to reset.

  • My Diagnosis: The problem is not consistently tied to a specific power state. The fan control logic, managed by the EC and the NVIDIA driver, is locking up or crashing unpredictably. The fan is physically functional, but the signal to turn it on is being lost due to a firmware or driver bug.

4. My Request:

Could you please provide a BIOS update or, more critically, an EC (Embedded Controller) firmware update for my model that addresses fan control stability? This behavior is a known issue in some laptops and is typically resolved through a firmware patch from the manufacturer.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
