What does the 'Reset switch' do?

Could someone clarify what the ‘reset switch’ does? Is it just for a ‘soft reboot’, or does it ‘reset the BIOS’ to default, or does it lead to wiping the drive? (not yet checked to see if there is a recovery partition on it)

There is a recovery partition. I did a Windows reset (after a failed dual-boot attempt) and Windows presumably found this to use and got the system up and running, with no issues. Have since created a new partition on the system’s drive and installed Win 11, again with no difficulties and Device Manager shows all the drivers found.

Still interested on how to use the Reset switch, if anyone knows.
