Cannot boot from USB (device works, but not shown) - would like to try Linux

Hello,
I humbly request help from the forum. My utlimate goal is to make a full disk backup and then install Manjaro Linux on the device.

My situation:
- I own both the Hi10 Plus and the Hi10 Pro.
- I would like to boot from USB. I have a USB Stick that I installed Clonezilla, Ubuntu and other Linux on.
- Booting from the USB Stick works with every other device I have. Both with SecureBoot on and SecureBoot off.
- With the Chuwi tablets, I try to boot from them, but do not even see the USB device

Further details:
- Both tablets are Dual Boot Android and Windows
- Pressing F7 repeatedly will get me to the menu that lets me choose the boot device
- Only Android and Windows or "enter setup" are shown there. No USB is shown
- In the BIOS menu, on the last page in "Boot override" I cannot see the USB device either
- If I boot into Windows, I can see the USB device. So the device itself works.

What am I doing wrong? If someone was able to boot from an external device, I would be glad for any help you can provide.

I think that I will be trying this out soon. Just received a Chuwi SE
