Recently I became interested in video and drone photography. The first such experience was when I took a drone from a friend for the weekend, but when I saw how cool it was, I started looking for a drone for myself, so I didn’t have to ask anyone. In this article, I found drones of different price categories, but for myself, I chose the middle ground of the DJI Mavic Air. Do you like flying a drone around the area?
I love watching videos from drones, especially when they are raised to a height and they fly down at a right angle
I recently bought one to get into FPV flying and for my holiday videos to get the best shots and be very portable as you can see here. I have some experience with fixed-wing and RC cars. I put several hours into Liftoff for some practice in manual mode before the trip. And a couple of hours into the DJI iPhone sim.
I can’t compare it with other drones. My thoughts as a newcomer:
- Very convenient - charging batteries is really easy, no fuss with binding, pretty much ready to go out of the box
- Normal/Sport mode is stable and easy. Low stress. Great for making track shots.
- Battery life is pretty short. 10 mins on average.
- Radio and video feed strength was great, even at a surprising distance
- Care and transport are easy. I bought a case with foam cutouts for the pieces so I can carry it around like a briefcase. Popping off the gimbal cover and top cover shell for cleaning was pretty simple.
- Even though the first day was windy, sport and normal mode were fine
- Tons of fun
