European Minibook 8 j4125 fan noise

Hello
I just got my minibook 8 Celeron j4125 version and really love this pic except for the very noisy fan.
Since I like reading books on my PC at night, the noise is really annoying since the fan is always on.
For the j4125 European version, is there a bios update or modified EC available for the fan not to run at low temperatures?
Is there a bios setting available for that?
Even at a 6w TDP, the fan is running at very low load (5% CPU usage…)…
Thank you very much!
Regards
Nicolas

The fan indeed is quite bad. However, you can ‘easily’ change that fan for a quiet fan  There is one downside though; you will need to order a new fan (very easy), then remove the old fan (easy), then use a soldering iron to remove the wires (with connector) from the old fan and the new fan, and resolder the ‘old’ wires (with connector) to the new fan (this can be quite hard to do, and requires skills/experience), before mounting the new fan into the minibook.
This is because the Minibook has a custom connector, and when you order a replacement fan it does come with the wrong (and useless) connector.

Hey THE0, do you know how thick these fans are?

I’m trying to stick one in the Minibook X as there’s an empty fan connector and space for a fan, but on Aliexpress nobody gives you the dimensions. I ordered one that looked “thin enough” but it’s a gamble and it still hasn’t shown up anyway. There are about 6mm of space available there.

Good question. To be honest I have no exact idea, but it’s in the 3-4 mm range. When (or if) I have to open the Minibook I will measure the fan thickness and share you the exact thickness.

Thanks! I don’t really need the exact dimension, as long as it’s 6mm or less that’s fine. I’ll wait a bit more to see if the fan I already ordered shows up anyway. I did find the SEPA fan that is mentioned in the other thread, though for some reason it’s much more expensive than even a Macbook fan.

Also found this fan speed controller, it might be necessary if this model isn’t actually set up to drive a fan.

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if the answer to the first question that @Colas posted?

For the j4125 European version, is there a bios update or modified EC available for the fan not to run at low temperatures?

Personally I already ordered a sepa fan for the replacement, I also want to use a copper pad between the cpu and the heatsink. That should lower the temperatures significantly, and because of that it would be great if we could disable the fan completely for lowr temperatures. Does anyone know something about the EC patch for this version?
