So I got a Baseus PPADM65-S powerbank.
When the powerbank is fully charged it can charge my Minibook X 2023 almost 2 times.
Baseus tells the powerbank does USB-C power delivery. That is a very complex standard. So they simplified their datasheet by listing equipment that can be charged and how many times. Unfortunately the MiniBook X 2023 is not in the list.
I could not find the Minibook’s USB charging specifications in any datasheet. By personal experience and exchanges with forum members I have discovered it does.
The powerbank has the following specifications:
- Energy capacity 74 Watthour (over 100 Wh you are not allowed to take on a plane)
- Current capacity 20000 mAh by 3.7 Volts
- Max charging Power 65 Watts (nothing to do with the energy capacity!)
- USB C PD for 5, 9, 12, 15, and 20 Volts
- 75% or better efficiency when charging a device
The Minibook X shows the following:
- Energy capacity 28.8 Watthour (specifications)
- USB C PD 20 Volts (measured)
- Max charging power when switched off 17 Watts (measured)
- 80% or better efficiency when being charged (calculated)
So let’s do the calculation (if you are still here ).
Best for battery life is never to discharge your Minibook below 10%.
- Powerbank energy capacity 74 Watthour * 75% efficiency = 60 Watthour
- MiniBook X energy capacity at 10% charged 25.9 Watthour / 80% efficiency = 32.4 Watthour
- 60 Watthour / 32.4 Watthour = 1.85 times charging of the Minibook X 2023
Note that this has not been done under lab conditions. But in practice I could charge the Minibook almost twice. The calculation is just an estimate and confirms what I experienced.
Have fun with this little laptop!
