Upgrade android on Hi12 from lollipop

Upgrade android on Hi12 from lollipop:

  1. remove lollipop altogether so that the whole of the drive is windows only. Do not use bitlocker drive encryption on windows.
  2. download the blissOS 14 ISO: BlissOS-x86 - Browse /Official/BlissOS14 at SourceForge.net . BlissOS 14 is android 11. Choose gapps (google app stores), foss (free and open source app stores), or vanilla (no app stores). BlissOS 16 is android 13, but I haven’t tried it.
  3. Use the windows installer to install it. GitHub - Xtr126/Android-x86-installer . After installation blissos should be bootable using the Hi12 android/windows selection screen, just like you used to do with lollipop. If it isn’t, you will need to make changes to the EFI partition yourself. Don’t ask me how. I don’t know.
  4. Rotation is inverted on one of the axes. This can be fixed:
  • Choose debug from the blissos boot menu (you’ll need a keyboard)
  • mount the system as read-write: Remount system as Read/Write . Use these instructions when you have finished editing to put the system back in read only mode.
  • You need edit or create the /system/build.prop file. The ‘nano’ editor is easiet. Add the following line: ro.iio.accel.y.opt_scale=-1 .

If this was useful to you please reply here. Also, add your voice to the bug report on github ( 🐛 [BUG] - Chuwi HI12 rotation (fix described) · Issue #68 · BlissRoms-x86/support · GitHub ) so that a fix is embedded into the software so that it is unnecessary for users in the future to carry out the fix.

Please note that unlike lollipop, blissos doesn’t talk to the bios at the low level so when in blissos you cannot do ADB through the usb port AFAIK.
