I bought 2 Chuwi AUBOX Core I 9 13900HK
I try to attach TunderBolt 4 external NVME SSD case MAIWO 40Gbps USB4 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure Aluminum 8TB MAX for Thunderbolt 4/3 USB 3.2/3.1/3.0 B+M M-Key NVME SSD Case
I connected Enclosure to back USB C ports: advertised USB4/TB4 port
The Problem: The Thunderbolt 4 port on the device is not functioning in Thunderbolt mode. It only operates as a standard USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, limited to 10 Gbps speeds.
In Windows 11: The Thunderbolt Controller is visible in Device Manager, but in HWiNFO64, the PCIe Link Status for the controller is “Not Negotiated”.
In Linux (Bazzite/Fedora):dmesg | grep thunderbolt only shows “bus type registered”, but the NHI (Host Interface) is not initialized. No Thunderbolt domain is found.
Hardware test: I have removed the secondary NVMe SSD to rule out PCIe lane sharing/conflicts, but the issue persists.
BIOS: I have loaded Optimized Defaults, but the Thunderbolt PCIe Tunneling still doesn’t seem to activate.
Request: Is there a specific BIOS update or a “Thunderbolt Firmware (NVM) Update” available for this model to enable PCIe Tunneling? Or is there a hidden BIOS setting (Advanced Menu) that needs to be toggled to activate the Thunderbolt 4 functionality?
