Hello. I bought a laptop a while ago and wanted to update its BIOS. What’s the latest BIOS for my laptop? Please send me the latest BIOS. My laptop’s battery drains significantly when it’s turned off.
BIOS update won’t fix that battery drain, it’s the standard behavior of recent Windows version, which sets S2Idle (a.k.a. “Modern Standby”) instead of S3 as the default sleep state. S3 turns everything but RAM off, S2 enables everything but at very low power state, because Microsoft wants Windows to still be able to download updates even when your computer is “sleeping”. There’s no workaround for this from Windows side and AFAIK Minibook X BIOS also doesn’t expose the setting. I can change mine because I use Linux. So sorry Windows users, your only choice is to live with it.
Besides what you said, I think Windows has more background activity.
I see that the hard drive LED lights up when I stop using the computer.
That’s also true, but won’t affect battery life during proper sleep, which seems to be the state in question, assuming turned off = sleep, lid closed at least.
There may be other improvements in the new bios. This is the case with other computers. What is preventing the bios from being updated? Why is there a problem with updates?
It all depends on the BIOS manufacturer and the motherboard manufacturer.
If you have any issues, report them to Chuwi and they should provide the update files.
