M.2 SSD only works with PCIe 3.0 x 1?

Hi, I just exchanged the internal SATA-SSD with a brand new PCIe 4.0 SSD, but it only works at PCIe 3.0 x 1 with 890 MB/s. Is this normal? Shouldn’t it work at PCIe 3.0 x 4, or did I miss something? Thanks for your help.

Hi!

I encountered myself in the same situation. After upgrading to a PCIe 3 NVMe, after cloning the original disk and doing some hacks like some registry modifications in order to be able to boot and that… I found out that the new drive has merely 600 MB/s transfer rates instead of the 500 of the original SATA one.

Is this hard-wired? If it’s a firmware setting, I recommend releasing an update because this is very very disappointing, and I don’t see a reason why.

To say something, it’s as disappointing as providing only 12 GB instead of 16, and not being able to replace/expand the RAM because it’s soldered. Why such a thing in order to save, let’s see, 3 or 5 bucks?
