Hi, I’m thinking about upgrading my laptop’s RAM and SSD capacity, but I’m not sure about a couple of things:
1.- What is the maximum frequency it supports? In the case of RAM
2.- What is the maximum data transfer speed it supports? In the case of SSD
I would really appreciate it if you could share that information with me
My computer is the Chuwi Corebook X i5-8259U 8GB+512GB from 2021
Hello
Regarding RAM, This will be limited to 2400MHz because of soldered memory. I have added 8gb extra do mine, exact same model. Besides the low speed of ram, it works in dual channel so it will bring some better performance on the Intel integrated GPU.
Regarding the max data transfer for the SSD, I wouldnt spend in nothing more than NVME Gen3 models, 3500MBps.

Hi, I appreciate you sharing that information with me
However, I have one more question
Reading what you wrote, you say that the RAM speed is limited due to the soldered drive
I’ve already checked my computer, and it seems that the version I have doesn’t have that soldered drive
So, wouldn’t my laptop be limited to that 2400MHz speed?
In case it’s not limited to that speed, could I add a RAM that handles speeds up to 3200MHz perhaps?
And regarding the SSD, thank you very much, that information helps me a lot.
So far I can see the specs of I5-8259U, max memory speed is DDR4-2400. If you add 3200Mhz memory, it will be limited to 2400.

Just want to add on what previous user said about SSD-s, when chosing a drive make sure it has a DRAM cache and uses chips from reputable brend (Samsung, Hynix, Kingston etc.)

Okay, I understand now. Thank you very much for answering my questions.
Ok, I’ll keep that in mind
