USB-C for Charging a Smartphone

I want to use a USB Hub on the second USB-C port while charging my laptop (MinibookX N5100) using a 65W charger. Can the first USB-C port be used to charge my smartphone? If it can, what is the maximum power output? What are the maximum voltage and amperage?

Thank you

I don’t have a 5100, I’ve got an N100, I can check to see if it charges my pixel 4a.

So, the first couple screenshots were with the Chuwi charger, a usb-a to usb-c cord that is quite old. I am using J5 hub, which is a powersuck I’ll admit…but it’s the only one I’ve got.

First, amp reading through the cable and usb-a to usb-c adapter to the computer.

Then the same through the hub:

With a usb-c to usb-c cable (came with the phone) through the hub
The voltage varies, but on average it’s about this:

Here it is with the phone direct to computer:

So, I think the basics: find a hub that sucks far less power and does a pass through easier, be prepared for slow charging.

Again, this is on an N100, so ymmv.

Oh also, there was some discussion earlier about higher wattage charging (Alternative charger for laptop Minibook X different ways to charge from @jaap I believe) about higher wattage charges not necessarily giving more as the computer takes what it’ll need.

We have chargers if you want one, the original would better right?

Anyway thanks for the info

If you want to save space and charge two devices with one power supply, I would recommend to use a power supply with more than one port.

Connecting each powered device directly will avoid unnecessary load on intermediate equipment and provide optimal charge power.

Make sure the power supply’s capacity is sufficient. A power supply cannot deliver more power than it has been designed for.

And finally, a powered device will not dissipate more power than it has been designed for.

I did some tests charging a device from my minibook N100. The power delivered to the device was very low. I would recommended to use this feature only if nothing else is available.

Were you asking me? If so, no thank you! I am quite happy with the default charger that I got with the minibook X.

Worst company wver in customers services and support, i had to fix my own laptop out of pocket ,cause tgey do not have customers service number nor i could dhip it back to china on my own expense which was more than the price of new one.never again .

That has nothing to do with this topic.
