AuBox 8745HS - DDR5 RAM Upgrade Compatibility Issue (Ymeiton 32GB Kit)

Hello Chuwi community,

I’m experiencing a POST failure after installing a third-party DDR5 RAM upgrade on my AuBox 8745HS and would appreciate any guidance.

System Details:

  • Device: Chuwi AuBox AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS
  • Original RAM: 16GB (pre-installed, single module)
  • New RAM Kit: Ymeiton DDR5 5600MHz SO-DIMM (32GB - 16GB x2)
  • OS: NixOS (Linux)

What Happened:
After installing both Ymeiton modules, the system fails to POST. No boot, no BIOS screen, just no response. Reverting to the original 16GB module allows normal boot immediately.

Steps I’ve Already Taken:

  1. Verified module specs match official AuBox requirements (DDR5 5600MHz, SO-DIMM format)
  2. Installed modules in correct slots with proper seating pressure
  3. Attempted boot with XMP/EXPO disabled (couldn’t reach BIOS to change this, as system won’t POST)

Questions for the Community:

  1. Has anyone successfully upgraded the AuBox 8745HS with a third-party DDR5 kit? If so, which brand/model?
  2. Has anyone experienced similar POST failures with non-Chuwi RAM? How did you resolve it?
  3. Are there known BIOS settings (memory training, voltage, timing) that need manual adjustment for dual-DDR5 to work?
  4. Is there a recent BIOS update that improves dual-channel DDR5 compatibility? (I’ve seen conflicting reports on the forums)
  5. Does Chuwi have a QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for tested RAM modules? If Ymeiton isn’t on it, what brands ARE officially compatible?
  6. Memory voltage settings: Should I manually set DRAM voltage in BIOS, or leave on auto?
  7. CMOS: Does it need to be cleared after installing a new RAM kit?

Additional Context:
I understand the AuBox shipped with single-channel RAM, which may mean the BIOS wasn’t fully tested for dual-DDR5 configurations. The official spec says “Up to 64GB (2×32GB),” but practical compatibility seems uncertain.

If anyone from Chuwi Support is monitoring: I’d appreciate clarification on whether third-party DDR5 modules are officially supported, or if I should expect compatibility issues and stick with OEM RAM.

Thank you for any insights!

Best regards
