The keyboard backlight on the freebook 2023 automatically turns off a few seconds after turning it on. The backlight comes back on when the keys are pressed, which is not convenient and not necessary when working from a power outlet.
I think a lot of people would be happy if a BIOS was released with the backlight auto-disable disabled, as was done for the minibook X.
My serial number is ZFreeBCY6H231100221.
I will ask tech if its possible.
Thank you for telling about it.
i would like this feature as well please. ive been trying to find a way to get the backlit keyboard to stay on since day one. its my only complaint regarding this computer. please help fix this.

Ok lets see. i will also ask.
So many people hate this featureā¦ i will ask if possible the next minibook x and freebook they do they remove this feature and make it as all of you want.
Tech told me would see if they can make a patch, but did not assure as this was not implemented before. Be patient
Well, it wasnāt implemented on minibook X before contacting support either.
Thanks, Iāll have to wait.
Iād like to chime in and say I dislike this too.
I want it so that turning on the keyboard backlight keeps it on (along with the two brightness settings being kept) and turning it off keeps it off.
I just want the timeout where it turns the backlight off after a few seconds of inactivity to be disabled.

Also, my only other complaint with the laptop is that the display has pretty bad ghosting when scrolling text. I doubt thatās something easily fixable in bios patches though?
It doesnāt seem like anyone at Chuwi has checked on the replies to this thread in a weekā¦
@Benjamoose I read every single ticket. When i do not answer is possibly because i am waiting for the solution. I already passed it to tech. But as i said, it will take time because developing a patch must be done by our software supplier, that is why. I have this pending in my notebook.
I understand that, but I had added contributed my serial/model number to the thread since the previous users had replied.
I also mentioned an issue about ghosting on the screen when scrolling text.
@ChuwiSpainSupport. Hello. More than a month has passed, is there any news from tech?
No, we are sorry, i asked again. But for now no new patch will be done as it requires many changes and is not something that really makes the computer fail or not work wellā¦ . They really have this in mind for future mass productions of the freebook, i insisted upon it.
I appreciate you attempting to reach out for us, but this is still an incredibly disappointing response.
I literally just bought this laptop a couple of weeks ago and youāre basically saying we have to buy a new one to resolve an annoying issue.
āitās not something that really makes the computer not work wellā
It literally makes it unusable in dark environments, because if I stop typing for more than a few seconds, the keys disappear into the darkness. Not at all practical.
Considering I just recently read a thread on this forum where the company was pumping out firmware updates for seemingly every little request, this is very disappointing.
You also still havenāt addressed my questions reqarding screen/scroll ghosting.
I completely agree that the backlight automatically turning off makes using the laptop uncomfortably problematic. I think this is not a technical feature but a defect. I really hope that the manufacturer will solve this problem as soon as possible.
Is there any way to disable keyboard backlight timeout
I fully searched bios for disabling timeout but there is no option related to keyboard time out
If someone find any solution let me know.
In Linux the auto rotate and tablet mode not working I tried fedora Ubuntu and debian
Except that most of the hardware works great
If anyone have any solution please let me know
Can you fix my keyboard backight? I need āalwys on backlightā my serial: JCorBXDY2H220302791
There are many people on the Internet who have encountered terrible performance of the backlight in this laptop model. Iām also waiting for a decision. ZFreeBCY6H231100392
Unfortunately, they donāt seem to care to change it.
My laptop was barely a few weeks old when I posted yet they instead said they would fix it for newer models, implying that despite my laptop was new and less than a month old, that I would need to buy another from them.
This came after me seeing them create tons of firmware updates in another thread for seemingly every request.
Very disappointing.
We care, it just takes time.
Tech told they would do it.
We had several launches previouslly they were really busy, and this is not something that is so urgent, lets be honest.
Today i asked and they said they are already on it.I hope in a matter of a week or so would be ready.
