CHUWI Freebook 13.5 2023, intel core i3. Keyboard backlight turns off after a few seconds (solved only for N100))

To be fair, it’s pretty reasonable for me to think you guys had written us off.

When I contributed to the thread 6 months ago, you replied by saying:

This reads like you saying that we won’t get a patch, but newly released models will.

Then you didn’t reply to my immediate follow up message where I assumed as much, and between then and now, 6 months have passed.

So, I think it was fair to assume we were to be excluded, even if it was a misunderstanding on my part.

Cool. I hope this is true and I hope that it will be for all of us in this thread and not just for newly sold models.

With respect, that’s not really for you to say.

I work with my Freebook daily in low light environments at work (a product I bought to streamline my work ironically) and the keyboard backlight shutting off seconds after I touch it is extremely inconvenient in my use case.

The rest of your message was informative and helpful, and if true, good news, but I found that part very dismissive.

I am sorry if you felt offended, but when i said that it was something that would completely not let anyone work on the laptop, Like problems with Windows, or anything else crucial.
The laptops come with that configuration, and we try as much as possible to listen to all of you, but Brands not only us , all of them have prioritities, and will solve things in the moment they can do it. Specially something like this. I hope you take that into account that we make the effort specially in this forum, and we are still not as big as other brands.

When i dont reply is because either i did not see it, i apologize if that was the cause. But as you can see i came to the thread everytime there were people to tell if there was news or not.

The patch is ready only for N100 computers (not 5100) for now:

Thank you for your work and the work of the technical support team, I hope soon a similar patch will be released for FreeBooks with i3 CPU, for mine in particular).

I appreciate that.

When I said dismissive, I wasn’t offended. Just irked at being pushed aside, but otherwise, it’s all good.

Aye, likewise. Still looking forward to seeing something for:

Tengo exactamente el mismo error de mi teclado en el Freebook i3. Espero que trabajen para una solución el Laptop esta en garantía.

We still hope for support and upgrading of the BIOS for adequate operation of the keyboard backlight on a PC with Intel i3

Sorry to keep prompting, but seeing as another 3 months have passed since any updates…

Any sign of the keyboard-backlight-fix yet for:
ZFreeBCY6H231101998

As far as I can see, this isn’t going to happen - typical Chuwi support as usual…

When we come back from Holidays i will ask again

Any news about patch for i3 version?

Hello, I installed the bios from the patch that is suitable for n100. But nothing has changed. My serial number is ZFreeBCY4H2401000163. The keyboard backlight still goes out. How can I fix this? And also, have you heard about the problem of power choke noise? They are terribly noisy on my Freebook, it really makes it difficult to work… Is there any way to fix this?

You need to install the second pacth it should work.

About the noise not heard. If you think it may have a problem maybe sent to repair it may be a fault

And now?

No news

Hello! Have you forgotten about us?

Hi, I’m also waiting for a solution. I have both the Freebook as well as the Minibook X and with the latter it is super simple to change it in the BIOS. I don’t understand why it is so hard to add that option for the Freebook.

As other people mention as well, it is really annoying to work with like this. On many other laptops (like HP and Asus) a gentle swipe on the trackpad also activates the keyboard backlight, but that also does not work on the Freebook.

I noticed in the title that it should have been resolved for the N100 version, which is the one I have, but for mine there doesn’t seem to be an option for it. I have installed the second patch (my Freebook is within that range), but nothing has changed. In the BIOS I only see the option to change the function keys.

Hi,

Did you somehow fix the backlight on the Minibook X with N100 ?
