Chuwi minibook 8" N100 reviews, tips&tricks, tutorials

Hi, everyone. As you know, Chuwi minibook 8" N100 just been released. I would be happy if people would start posting reviews, tips, tricks. Especially how to properly reinstall windows 11, how to install fully functional Linux, which would work as dual boot for already existing Windows 11. Perhaps also how to change internal SSD for a less energy demanding SSD or how to generally make some adjustments to make the battery last longer. Also, officially Chuwi minibook supports Chuwi H8 stylus, but perhaps some users can tell and experiment about other styluses which minibook 8" N100 supports. All this will come very handy.

And when you guys write a review, please include these requests.

Hi. Few questions about your 8" minibook N100?

  1. can you please make at least 3 in a row Geekbench 6 tests with maximum power mode? Perhaps when plugged in. I said 3 in a row because if subsequent geekbench tests show much less score than first test, means the device is throttling and processor is overheating. Perhaps you could also test Kraken 1.1 test, Octane V2 test, Webxprt3 test, timespy test, etc. these are very common and useful while establishing how well device compares to other devices.

  2. does usb c port can output hdmi(display out) signal when connected to appropriate monitor?

  3. I saw on some chinese websites that chuwi minibook n100 8" supports Chuwi H8 stylus. Can you test it and see if using stylus experience any good for note taking etc?

  4. how is the battery life in hours on average, on low brightness and: A) watching YouTube B) browsing internet, nothing intense ?

  5. any issues noticed while using your chuwi minibook 8" N100?

Thanks for your reviews, answers, tips, tricks, turorials in advance.

We do not sell this minibook overseas. Is only for CHina. And it has everything in Chinese. Is not a new product but is our old model with some changes that we had some stock left.

Thanks for the notice. I hope Chuwi reconsiders! I am in the U.S. and would absolutely love this model. We need something better than that “Crelander P8” junk.

Hi There, Minibook 8 N100 users here.

PROS:
I’ve been using this device for couple weeks, so far its meet my expectation for portable daily driver to do light office works (MS Office), web development (Chrome, Canva, etc), online meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, Gmeet). Even for gaming (Diablo IV).

For USB-C HDMI, I confirm it’s working using cheap 3-in-1 USB-C to HDMI+USB3+PD adapter.
I try to use 8-in-1 USB-C to HDMI+LAN+USB3+PD also working well.
(I got 2 adapter, unfortunately seems like I plugged the wrong port when connecting adapter to charger, so it’s burned. The adapter have 2 USB-C port, 1 data only, 1 can support PD passthru for charging the laptop).

I tested using default WIN 11 Home upgraded to Pro, then reinstall using Ghost Spectre 24H2, right now I’m using Atlas OS 24H2 latest. All working flawlessly. For drivers you can check on another thread on this forum.

CONS:
I dunno if this is because I’m using stripped down Atlas OS, but when transforming from laptop mode to portrait tablet mode, the screen will be off, so you need to push power button to sign in again.
BIOS Startup seems longer than standard BIOS on my Lenovo/ASUS, I havent tweaked yet, I dunno if there’s fastboot settings.
Need more adjustment on using keyboard because some buttons are not in usual place (e.g Alt-Tab), but you’ll get used to it fast.
For those familiar with blackberry touchpad, the mousepad is similiar, but I always use bluetooth mouse since it’s more convenient on mouse intensive activity.
On full MS Teams meeting with video/presentation, battery only last less than 2 hours, but for browsing a dozen chrome tabs in battery saver mode, I can go more than 3 hours

I have the option to choose between Minibook X 10.5 N100 and Minibook 8 N100, I’m glad I choose this one since its fits into small sling bag and pouch, also the RAM is bigger (16gb compared to 12gb Minibook X 10.5)

Overall, this is a good buy if you use it as secondary driver. I leave my main laptop in the office and another older laptop at home, but this baby is in my sling bag all the time.

Edited:
I’m also looking for compatible stylus pen. The seller mention Chuwi Hipen H3 is the most compatible, but the stock in the market is very rare, and the price is high.
I read somewhere else mention that this pen also using MPP technology, which means similiar to MS Surface Pen.
I wonder if anyone ever tried this. It could be a good alternatives since the compatible Surface Pen is cheaper
