Larkbox X N100 boot loop Linux

After removing the NVMe drive it came with, in case I want to run Windows in the future, I installed a new m.2 512G NVMe drive. I booted Ubuntu 22.04 on a thumb drive, and installed Ubuntu onto the NVMe.

Problem: the Larkbox keeps booting in a loop. I see “CHUWI.com” on the screen for a fraction of a second, then see “Reset System” in the upper left corner, then it repeats.

BIOS is set to Legacy. I’ve tried it with “Quick Boot” enabled and disabled, same thing.

Has anyone here gotten Ubuntu to work? Any suggestions welcomed.

Saw some other forum posts, and read that the Larkbox X does not support NVMe drives?

I didn’t see anything on the m.2 drive, so I went into the BIOS and NVMe is specifically listed as a boot option.

Am I hosed?

I have this memory card in dual boot Windows 11/Ubuntu and it works well :
Model : Fanxiang S660 1TB
Firmware : SN14081
Disk Size : 1000,2 GB
Interface : NVM Express
Standard : NVM Express 1.4
Transfer Mode : PCIe 3.0 x1 | PCIe 4.0 x4
Features : S.M.A.R.T., TRIM, VolatileWriteCache

Somehow my OP landed under Laptops, for a LarkBook when I’ve got a Larkbox

please disregard
