Thoughts on the new Corebook X

Hello,
I am new to the forum and thinking about buying the CoreBook X i5 model.
Before I buy i just want to know if it is good and if there are any problems with it. (and if there are then what are they)

Thanks and regards,
-Matus

I just got the CoreBook pro i5 and the the motherboard can only take m.2 SATA III drives not the NVMe drives. It came with only a 256G drive and wanted to put in a larger one, took me a bit to figure it out as its not in any of there documentation.

Possible issue would be the swollen batteries that is happening a lot with Laptop devices lately.

If I were you I would stick to the i3 version from Walmart. At $350 the laptop is the perfect price to performance. With the i5 now you’re in the 500+ range and there are much better options at that price. Plus the difference in performance between the i3 and i5 isn’t really worth the upgrade.

Some people below have mentioned the swelling battery issues. All of those issues are with the gen 8 and gen 10 Intel laptops from 2019 and 2021. This newest version of corebook with 12th Gen hasn’t had any issues as of yet. Not to say it can’t happen but the laptop with 12th gen just came out this spring. Let’s hope by the one year mark next spring this continues to be the case.

I will tell you my initial review of my 12th Gen i3 has been all positive. The screen is gorgeous. The keyboard is great. Huge mousepad that is accurate. The laptop actually feels like a laptop in the 600+ mmid tier range. It punches way above its class. It’s only detraction is 4 hours battery life max. Which is absolutely terrible, but at $300-350 that’s not a deal breaker to me. The ability to add an additional SSD and the mostly metal body make it difficult to understand how chuwi is turning a profit on this laptop.

Other thing I recently found out is that the corebook x is one of the most popular laptops in India. They’re working their way to usa trying to replace the Huawei market share. If my word means anything get the i3 1215u version from Walmart, get the three year coverage from Allstate just in case something happens and you won’t be sorry!

Also commentor above talking about sata SSD is talking about an old corebook model. The newest one only takes nvme. I have the 256 that came with mine and added a 1tb crucial p3 and it’s working flawlessly.
