The new Ubook X 2023 comes with a chinese brand “AirDisk” m.2. 2242 SSD size instead 2280.
For open the tablet to replace the SSD or batteries you have first to remove any microSD card inserted in the slot as well as any USB device/cable connected to the ports, then:
Remove the two small screws in the bottom at rear side (beside of POGO pins)
Using a plastic nail tool or a credit card, insert it between the plastic frame and the black bezzel of the screen starting at left-upper corner (close to the power ON/OFF switch) twisting slightly and moving all around the tablet while hearing the “clicks”. Once completed the rear frame can be separated. There are not cables/strips connecting both parts
Disconnect the battery cable
Remove the original SSD and replace with the new one
Thanks for the great guide. One question. Was the thermal pad preapplied on the heatsink, or did you ad it? Shame that it isn’t applied on more places, so the heat would be dissipated more evenly thru the backplate That would for certain help the battery to avoid heat damage, and thermal throttling of the CPU.
Yes, it is. You have to decide if take de 8GB or 12GB RAM options since can´t be upgraded unless you have enogh SMD desoldering/soldering skill to replace it.
Thanks for this. I can’t quite see from the picture, can the wifi card be replaced? Or is it soldered to the board? Also installed ssd is SATA, does slot support nvme as well?
yes but do you know if the card is replaceable at all or if it is fixed to the board? I only ask because I got a replacement Ubook X 2023 from customer service, and it is a different hardware revision than my original. My original had Intel 7265 wifi, and this new one has realtek 8821ce. The intel wifi is technically better (even if it doesn’t really matter in practical terms for this tablet) so I was thinking I might replace the wifi with an intel one if I ever took the tablet apart. But it looks in the picture above anyway that the wifi is fixed to the board, that it’s not an M.2 card. I just wanted to confirm…
