I need a way to reset BIOS settings to factory defaults

do you have a backup file? I would like to analyze it. maybe you writed with overflow and it worked.
Please write what software was used.

I need "archive with firmware E.G140J.D8.E1.006 & GLK_EC_G140J_V130906.zip
it contains bios.bin firmware file - 8 Mb
and ec.bin file - 131 Kb "
How do I get one?

I have it, tell me your email

Thank you very much!

Hi, could you send it to me too? The Bios linked on these pages (E.G140J.D8.E1.016&CHUWI_G140J_06V1403) apparently bricked my lapbook pro, if you have the E.G140J.D8.E1.006 & GLK_EC_G140J_V130906.zip I’ll try with that, thank you

My email is alessio.romano83@gmail.com

If they say that it is because they have touched something.

You shouldn’t have changed that option in the Bios. the solution, boot with an external linux system in USB and make the modification in the bios from there.

If they have already corrupted the bios, only a reprogram will solve the problem

I have same problem with mini pc Herobox. I’ve select in BIOS OS Linux and now have a brick.

[SOLUTION]

I had a similar issue. I changed OS Type to Linux in BIOS. Result = Lapbook Pro won’t boot anymore, not even into BIOS, black screen.

Normally as suggested above the solution in any PC in the world would be to reset BIOS settings. Either by removing CMOS battery or using some pins on the motherboard. Sometimes there is also a key combination that resets the settings memory back to default.

But Chuwi is below low-end market. They cut corners.

  1. Firmware is very buggy and probably there is a lots of way some settings in BIOS may brick the device.
  2. There is no separate chip to store BIOS settings. They are saved on the BIOS chip itself!

So I doubt there is any way to reset BIOS settings at all. You must reflash BIOS chip.

Steps to do:

  1. Get CH341A with 1.8V adapter and a clip.
  2. Open the device, remove the battery connector, remove the cooling plate
  3. Get some programmer software that has GD25Q64 (I used this one, maybe other work, the BIOS chip on the motherboard is actually. GD25LB64, next to EC chip with red dot (the one visible even when cooling plate is installed), download BIOS.bin (from my experience neither of 4 different contact points with Chuwi provided one, pathetic)
  4. Connect the clip. Be very careful and precise. I had to use a rubber band to reduce the force of the spring to make it stick in place.
  5. Read the memory at least 2 times and compare the content with BIOS.bin you have downloaded to be sure you get everything and save it.
  6. Look for the Windows key in your bin file, there is a certain bits combination that preceeds it. Paste it in the exact same place of BIOS.bin
  7. Erase the chip and program it with that BIOS.bin with Windows key added.
  8. Voilla!

I’d say the most difficult part is connecting the clip. You need to see that all 8 pins are connected, for some clips you might need to use nail file or sth so that metal parts are as close to the motherboard as possible.

Thanks to Chuwi for:

  1. Shitty firmware you can brick just by changing some settings (maybe just hide them, don’t you think?)
  2. Not providing the firmware files anywhere. That’s just stupid. Put all latest drivers on your bloody website for every device of yours on the market. Every PC manufacturer does that.
  3. Not providing the firmware or anything you might have called helpful on any of contact points (service@, aftersales@, Messenger, Official AliExpress Store), I got tips like: you messed with your Windows, don’t do it…

At least provide what your customer asks for (in my case - bin files for BIOS).

thanks for absolutely nothing, Chuwi

I bricked my Gemibook by changing the OS type to Linux in the South Bridge section of the BIOS.

I opened it up, disconnected the battery and all other cables. I also pressed the tiny button next to the USB C port (not sure what this does). Anyway, my BIOS reset and I’m able to use the laptop again. Hope this helps someone.

Can you be more specific please??? Help me bro
