Linux on Freebook N100 - latest Ubuntu has Bluetooth issues

I was wondering whether other Freebook users are running the latest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. If so, do you have issues with Bluetooth and wifi. If I scan Bluetooth devices nothing appear. Also on booting I get dmesg errors on wifi on Bluetooth.

This version of Ubuntu runs the 6.9.x kernel, so according to some info on the web, all of AX101 driver issues should have been resolved. Well not on my device though. Also booting is slow, as it has many timeout dependencies e.g. systemd network service.

What works is auto screen rotate on Gnome, after applying step 2/3 of this hack.

Finally I moved to a more stable and faster booting Linux - OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Slowroll. It also has the latest 6.9 kernel, so screen rotation also work. And no problems with wifi and bluetooth whatsoever.

I bet your laptop works better than with Windows. At least you can upgrade without being dependent on the manufacturer’s drivers.

Bluetooth and Ubuntu never worked for me in general. On my Minibook I use FC 40. WiFi and Bluetooth work fine. Yet I have all known screen limitations.

I won’t change to mainstream kernels to fix that like you did. They are not part of the distribution and are less safe to use.

It will be likely be solved in 24.04.1, if another distro has it fixed. After all, in Linux, broken drivers tend to be temporary (yeap, someone accidentally breaks something is quite common). But the fix is usually just as fast.
