Minibook X N150 grinding noise

Serial: ZMinBXIY4H2511031303
Purchased from Ali Express (seller: Acer Gadget Choice store)

When the fan kicks in, there is a horrible grinding noise.

I don’t know whether to send it back to Ali Express or to open it up and have a look.

The laptop itself works fine, but every time the fan kicks in it sounds almost like a grinding hard drive.

I haven’t opened it up yet, as there is a sticker above one of the screws. I wish they didn’t do this because this is not legal in many countries. What if I wanted to change the NVMe drive for example? I would have to void the warranty which is not legal in many countries.

I tried to return it to Ali Express but somehow my order history is out of sync on Ali Express, and every time I try to return it I’m talking to an AI bot and going in circles unable to return it :frowning:

I’m tempted to open it up if I can fix this myself, but just waiting for a response first (about the grinding fan noise).

On the AliExpress website, there is a menu that explains how to make returns and refunds.

I can’t because Ali Express returns is broken for me sorry, that is my point I was making.

I’ll try to explain but it’s “going around in circles” with Ali Express’ AI and then I can’t return it.

A while ago I had another (totally different) order stuck at customs for a while, and now every single order I’ve done since that, I receive updates long after the product arrives. This is what I mean with Ali Express updates are out of sync.

I’ve tried to explain this to Ali Express but I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall.

Long story short, if I wait a week I can finally return it. It’s weird, but when I talk to a the Ali Express AI to try to solve this I can’t get to a resolution and the AI makes you go around in circles (in loops), and won’t actually let me return it.

I did briefly talk to the seller, and they too asked me to do the returns process. But since it’s broken, I ended up going around in circles again.

AliExpress must have an email address where a real person can respond.

Another solution could be to create another AliExpress account with a different email address, so you don’t have the same problem with subsequent orders.

Yes I have thought about that creating another account. I’ll just push through, I’ll get it returned, I’ll try again a bit later. Meanwhile I won’t open it up and get the machine ready for sending (wiping any personal data I may have put on it etc).
