Question about superio chip

My larkbox x stopped working, the seller (official chuwi choice shop on aliexpress) basically told me to get lost because aliexpress seller protection ended 4 months ago and there is no warranty. Aliexpress support won’t do anything even though they advertise 1 year warranty. Think twice if you buy from aliexpress.

Anyway, I went to a repair shop for free diagnosis and it turns out the superio chip probably overheated and it’s dead. Does anyone know if the superio chip IT5570E-128 CXS will program itself from bios if it gets replaced or it needs to be programmed before replacing? I am asking because there is no official technical sheets of the motherboard and if it needs to be programmed the repair shop will charge additional money making the repair not worth it (again no official data to program the chip). I know the support guy on the forums here is not from technical department but you are doing amazing job maybe you can contact technical and ask about it?

Make me a screen capture of your Order number and the country you are from. If its under warranty you are entitled to be repaired. I will talk with my colleague.

I am from Poland. Thank you.

@ChuwiSpainSupport any news on this?

So we already established that the warranty is imaginatory, what about my question about the superio chip?

Sorry; the post went down and i did not see it.
I will ask tomorrow .

@ Puddi out of curiosity, did Chuwi ever get back to you with a fix/replacement/refund?

Ofc not. Their warranty is a big lie if you buy from their official aliexpress shop they know that you can’t do anything to them so they don’t respect warranty. I wish i bought it using paypal so I could chargeback. Don’t buy anything expensive from them unless you buy it locally so your local warranty laws apply.

yeah, too late ;( Mine Larkbox X works for now but some components on the mainboard look funny, see my thread. Of course I bought it on Ali with BLIK so if it turns out to be a serious defect I am cooked. Recently I had a bad luck streak with Aliexpress purchases. First, I bought an SDR dongle - it was dead on arrival but I’ve got a full refund and free return. Then I bought a portable display - died on me after like 6 days. I have applied for a refund, still waiting for the decision. And now this :confused: Are they dumping e-waste on us or what?

Pozdrawiam rodaka :slight_smile:

On my board that spot is used by tokin capacitor rated for 7v (marked nw ee7), there are no public board schematics for larkbox x so I don’t know the rating of the unmarked capacitors on your board adds up to the one I have, assuming they used 2 smaller ones your board should be fine. Your photos don’t show if the solder has contact on both ends but if the pc works it shouldn’t be a big problem.

Thank for your reply. FYI, IMHO from my photos it looks like there is a gap between pads and components but maybe there are extra pads under the components we cannot see and there is connection in another layer. Anyway, I just checked with a multimeter and it looks like there is continuity between this seemingly empty pads and components. Also, the resistance seems to be 0.6ohm both between components and pads, and across the components (but I’m no EE and I have the cheapest multimeter ever so I hope my measurements make sense).
