Chuwi Larkbox X: misaligned and unsoldered components on the mainboard

Chuwi Larkbox X ordered on 2025-01-17 from Aliexpress store “CHUWI Choice EU Store”, received just two days ago. Serial number: SLarBXGZ1H241000085.

I was swapping the SSD drive for a bigger one when I noticed two components on the mainboard looking like they were improperly aligned. On one side they touch each other and on the other side they seem to be not soldered to the pads.

Unless I’m wrong and the empty pad is OK and the components are in contact with some pads underneath them that I don’t see. But… I did a little bit of digging and from the photos of this model I found on this forum and elsewhere, this place on other people’s motherboards is populated with a different component, see here, here or here. There is one slightly bigger black component with a plus sign and some numbers printed on it, on mine there are just two smaller ones.

The computer works fine for now but I am worried about the device longevity and future resale value if I ever decide to sell it. Can someone from Chuwi please check with their engineers what’s going on here?

EDIT: I checked with a multimeter and it seems there is continuity between those funnily placed components and the big pads close to them. But still, this looks fishy so I would appreciated if someone competent from Chuwi confirmed it is by design.

@manonegra222 can you compare with yours? i really cannot distinguish between the other pictures

I have opened my Larkboox X and I have been able to verify that the components you mention are aligned in parallel, but the fact that they appear in yours in a close position will not affect the operation since I have also verified the existence of continuity between both with a multimeter. In any case, your message in the forum will serve as a reminder in case of future problems related to these components.

OK, thanks for checking.
