UBOX Random beeps

When using Batocera or Windows 11, I hear beeps.

They are emitted randomly, usually two or sometimes three, but the PC seems to be working properly. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what it is?

Thank you

Have you searched on saint Google for information ?

Of course… and I haven’t found any information.

Por tu nombre creo que puedes hablar español, yo busque:

Thank you for your reply!
I am Italian, but I used a translator. The problem is that it doesn’t work in Windows 11, or even on Batocera/Linux. The sounds come from the PC, not from Windows.

No, it’s not a fan noise… it’s a beeping sound like a buzzer… it’s always the same frequency and duration… for every beep.

You can also open it and try to identify which component is making the noise.

If you bought it less than 15 days ago, you can return it.

Finally, do you have a friend who knows about computers? They can check it and tell you what the problem is.

This is the noise; there are no parts that can generate it. It comes directly from a speaker or some other component.

Are you trying to sharpen my senses or my memory ? :joy:

You know that computers used to have a small speaker.

You can look up what two beeps on a computer mean.

You should contact Chuwi support.

Random beeps here too… Otherwise everything is fine LOL

It’s my own fault. I’ve bought CHUWI products two or three times in my life, and I’ve always had problems. The quality (as far as I’m concerned) is terrible.

SO i guess you didn’t find a solution for the random beeps? To me it happens every time the fan starts to spin or making noise. Seems like something is “sleeping” without being in sleep mode and the beep starts something on the computer. But AFAIK it doesn’t slow down or interrupt any activity on computer. For example while gaming there was a beep nothing happens, no drops no stuttering and watching videos also, didnt stop/paused video or audio, just the stupid beep which sometimes it’s pretty audible, others is very low.

I guess as you say @alexpita it’s the quality or the lack of it that makes this beeps coming out of the box, meaning this beeps always happen in computers but they are completly stuffy by the construction of the computer which in this case it’s almost open lol, sound comes from everywhere, still the fan is not as noisy as people say. I ear the fan ofc but not like some laptops…

It’s honestly disappointing to see this kind of issue in a modern computer. It feels like the manufacturer really cut corners on the build quality and the materials used for the chassis. If the case is so ‘open’ or thin that you can hear every single internal beep and electronic hum, it means there’s zero attention to acoustic insulation. A well-built computer should shield the user from these noises, not amplify them.

Beyond the materials, this points to a serious lack of proper QA (Quality Assurance) testing. It feels like they just threw the hardware together and shipped it out without ever testing it in a quiet, real-world environment. If they had done even a bit of thorough, long-term testing, they would have caught these annoying ‘phantom beeps’ immediately.

It’s frustrating because we’re not talking about a cheap toy; we’re talking about a machine that’s supposed to be refined. To me, it just shows that they prioritized hitting the market quickly over actually delivering a polished, high-quality product. We shouldn’t be the ones doing the ‘beta testing’ for them after we’ve already paid full price.

You probably right, CHUWI as some other aliexpress vendors throw new products there and expect users to test it by complaint when something goes wrong and there is 3 ways of doing this. By sending this products to actually beta testers like youtube reviewers, paying someone to test it or as they did by selling it with a lower price on ali

The beeps alone are not a big deal really but i fear when the summer comes this computer will make noise 24/7. Let’s see what happens. I guess as this is a new version of the UBOX with built-in RAM it wasn’t really tested on a daily environment so we are the guinea pigs.

But as you stated it can be bad sound isolation, electronic hum or some other setting in the BIOS we need to find. LOL

I don’t know if you’ve read my comments.
I have a Ubox mini PC and it works fine.
I only hear the fan when it spins faster.
In my opinion, only the fan can make noise.
The mini PC doesn’t have speakers, so it shouldn’t be making any noise.

@bruzan2025 @alexpita already told you the beep doesn’t come from any speaker, it’s a similar sound to the beep you get from motherboard when something is not right. You get 1 beep form RAM 2 for something else right?!. Thing is here you sometimes get one beep and fan starts to spin. Sometimes long beep and fan star to spin, sometimes 2 beeps and fan start to spin.

I already tested RAM, CPU with a bunch of tools and no errors. I will test a bunch of linux distros in the next days…

Chuwi replied that, in their opinion, it is electrical/electronic interference… the usual excuse of those who don’t know what to say

It’s definitely not the RAM or CPU, because if it were, the PC would shut down/freeze or restart.

Also, the beeps occur when the operating system is running… and the beeps come from a speaker anyway. I’m fed up, it’s a shame that the bottom of the PC can’t be opened without breaking the warranty seals.

@alexpita I guess one of us will need to open it up as the only guess is the CMOS battery is low and dying and need to be replaced, that small rounded battery form old watches you know. Only needed for startup proposes after long periods without power. And it can beep, well all the beeps come from that thing. This one guy opened it up. Thats the only thing i can see that has some kind of small speaker and beeps…

I have over-ear headphones, that’s why I don’t hear the Windows startup sound.
I restarted the computer with the headphones on.
In my opinion, it’s the Windows startup sound.

You can search: how to silence the computer sound when Windows starts.

Can you comment on what happened after you silenced the Windows startup sound ?
