Minibook X Keyboard backlight turns off after a few seconds (solved)

I would not recommend installing the patch, because if could affect the BIOS.
Better wait to see if possible TEch can develop other patches

We have a patch for almost everybody. Except the old old models.

IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF HOW TO INSTALL THIS, WE WILL APPRECIATE, it will be several days to have back the minibook in office . Many of you know how to install these files.

This is perfect. Thank You. Good job. :+1:

Actually, if your minibook x is quite recent, the patch might be already baked in your BIOS anyway.

By pressing F7 while booting up and entering the BIOS, I found out that the option to have the keyboard backlight always on, was already there, just not selected.

So if you are a bit hesitant to apply the patches in this thread, it might be worth checking whether the functionality is already available, just waiting for you to toggle it on

Hi @ChuwiSpainSupport , the new BIOS update worked perfectly on my Minibook X and my keyboard light is now configurable. This has really improved my experience of using the laptop.

Thanks for your effort getting the update to us!

@ChuwiSpainSupport, Hello, Is there any news on such BIOS patches for FreeBook?
I created a ticket about it a long time ago, but there is still no patch. Still waiting and hoping for its release).
You at least report back if the support replied that it is not possible, so that we do not wait.

The BIOS DNN20A v2.05 update on my Minibook X was installed without any problems, power saving for the keyboard backlight can be disabled.
It has become much more convenient to use the laptop.
Thanks for supporting this wonderful model CHUWI!

I know that problem is still on going, i adviced about this time ago and everytime you guys talk the same. But Tech as i said previouslly sometimes have to wait or they need to talk with many many departments and things cant be done. They said for the moment is not possible.

Thank you for posting this update! I was able to install the BIOS firmware, it gave my Minibook a bit of a hassle on restart (it took a couple tries to get it rebooting, a couple forced restarts with the physical power button, and quite a lot of worry on my part because I just got this last week!).

I’ve found these forums to really be helpful, thank you for your support.

Hello, just receive my Minibook X and to be on the safe side I’d like to get image, bios and drivers for it:
Serial is: ZMinBXHY4H240500533
Came in Mexico from Virginia, USA

Also, is there a place where I should register it with Chuwi?

Thank you very much

Eric

I updated the Bios successfully using the new ROM with my name @microprosopus in the thread. The others hadn’t worked.

When I try to restart my laptop the backlit key light for a few seconds and the laptop just shuts down after about 10 seconds. I have tried to do this several times, including with f7 to boot into bios, and both cable powered and with just battery, but getting the same problem.

Please help as my laptop is competely stopped working after following the advice.

I know on mine, it took about 4-5 restarts/forced restarts. Have you just tried leaving it on for a minute or two, rather than restarting when the keyboard light goes off? Like is the power light still blue? You may be restarting too soon, as for me, it took a bit of time for it to start to boot into Chuwi. I was panicking an awful lot.

Thank you, and glad this worked out for you. But no, for me the blue light is going off after a few seconds and not coming back on. It just competely closes down with black screen even after long time. Looks bricked. If I don’t get reply from Support will have to send for repair which is super frustrating as will take weeks.

Oh man, that stinks. I guess my only advice is to keep on trying a few more times? I mean, you may as well while you’re waiting to hear back from support.

This is just for MICROPROSOPUS

Try to install the BIOS that came with the your laptop

Windows

Drivers:

And see if the computer would be normal again

The rest of the people could flash if without problems. So we dont understand what was the issue on your side.

For the next uses who read this: We repeat again, flashing BIOS always is not recommended,. it may break the computer and finally would need to be sent to repair. If the keyboard light is not a disturb for you do not do it.

I am not able to get the laptop to stay on for more than a few seconds so not able to do this.

I have raised a ticket with Support to request a return for repair under warranty.

This is disappointing as it will inevitably take a long time.

However, thanks for trying to assist with the issue in the first place.

OH! One thing I just remembered that I did was a full on power cycle/off. Have you tried holding the power button for 30 seconds when you turn it on? I realize it seems like it’s a fool’s quest since the computer turns off after a few seconds…but it may help?

I seem to recall I did that when I was having the problems that you’re describing. It may or may not help, but if you’ve not tried it, it may save you some repair shipping if that’s what had kicked my comp out of the shut down problems.

Thank you, yes I tried this. And also competely draining the battery to see if it reset the bios.

I told my collague to answer you, i hope you can get it repaired
