Minibook X N5100 - nVME is not detected and keyboard stopped working in BIOS

My Minibook X N5100 has less than 100 working hours. One day I was working on it (with the preinstalled Windows 11) and suddenly the laptop just crashed with BSOD. After I rebooted it went directly into BIOS shell mode. I booted and entered the BIOS and it was saying that nVME is not detected. I thought that the nVME died, so I got a new one - replaced the old one, but nVME was still not detected (and it is a working nVME) - I booted with Live Linux USB and checked if then the nVME would be detected but it wasn’t. Today I decided to reset the BIOS but now the keyboard doesn’t work and I can’t even get to the BIOS anymore.

Has anyone had such issues and how did they fix them? The laptop is out of warranty now (I believe as I bought it in 2022) but was barely used.

I knew that for this money it would be subpar in performance, but I wasn’t expecting such bad quality.

@manonegra222 ?

With that information, I don’t have enough data to determine if it’s a hardware or software issue; both are possible. You indicate that you reset the BIOS. Can you tell me how? I would try reinstalling the software using the official Chuwi software via a flash drive.

I wanted to get into the BIOS and see how it can be reset, but I couldn’t due to the keyboard not registering any input. Where can I get the official Chuwi software from and how would that make a difference at such a low level?

You can try opening the device and removing the battery for a few minutes, this might reset the Bios.

Removed the battery for a good 5 hours, then reconnected it again. No change - the keyboard is still unresponsive even in the BIOS shell that opens up …

Puede ser un problema de hardware.
revisa que las ranuras de ventilacion estan libres.

try connecting an external keyboard and mouse.

After removing the battery for some time it got even worse - now just the display backlight lits and nothing else is shown. Before that at least I was getting to the uefi shell, but now - nothing. I suspect a bigger hardware problem. It is just badly built hardware.

send to repair

Fill this form:

How much would it cost? I am not sure that it would be economically feasible to repair it.

So basically, from After Sales I was told that they wouldn’t take it for repair as it was out of warranty (which is illegal since all goods sold in the EU to end users have 2 years of warranty, not 1), but anyways, stay away from Chuwi, the support is awful and the product quality is terrible. I will not recommend it to any of my friends.
